Monkey See Monkey Do

I have seen some AMAZING quilts out there in my journey's through pinterest, blogland and flickr. A few, however, screamed YOU MUST DO THIS, YOU MUST MAKE ONE. It was loud, and I couldn't shut that voice up. Luckily, the two that jumped out to me are ones that are relatively easy, no pattern, simple patchwork. I think that is the right way to really dive into this larger quilting. The first one that I will discuss in this post is from a new friend, Adrianne from Little Bluebell.  Adrianne is so sweet and she is a great modern quilter (check out her cool blog).  She happens to be the president of the Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild, which I recently joined and LOVE.  So many sweet and talented people willing to share their knowledge with me.  Adrianne made a stunning quilt top for herself featuring large cuts of Lotta Jansdotter's line Echo (with other lovelies mixed in).  Gorgeous right?  I HAD to copy her.

Top is done. Boo-ya!! It feels great to sew today

And so, I did some fabric purchasing.

Well, OK, maybe a lot.  But I'm just getting started, and need to build my stash and these pretties will be useful in all sorts of projects (what is left that is).  I love that these fabrics also feature my school colors, blue and gold (Go Bears!).

Now, I just need to find the time to sew it up.  But, it will have to wait awhile.  Work is crazy (taking a quick little break to write this post) and then I have a bachelorette party in Palm Springs, then a 10 day trip to Nicaragua.  But, this will be on top of the list when I return to normal in June.  I can't wait!

  1. Looks like a fun shopping spree, the quilt is going to be great. Have fun on your adventures!

  2. Love her quilt and I know yours will be great! Can't wait to see you put it all together!

  3. Love the fabrics you chose. can't wait to see it all put together.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment.
